Life has a way of throwing us curveballs. Whether it’s personal struggles, financial pressure, or just feeling stuck in the waiting, hard seasons can make it difficult to hold on to your faith. But these are also the moments when leaning into God has the potential to grow you in ways comfort never could.

If you’re in a storm right now and wondering how to stay grounded, here are seven practical ways to keep your faith strong when life is anything but easy.

1. Stay in the Word

The Bible is more than encouragement. It’s your anchor. When everything else feels uncertain, Scripture reminds you of who God is and what He’s promised. Even a few verses a day can reset your heart and mind.

Start by reflecting on verses that speak to your situation. Write them down. Keep them visible. And don’t wait until you “feel like it.” Read anyway.

2. Keep Praying

When it feels like God is silent, prayer can feel pointless. But that’s when it’s most important to keep praying. You don’t need perfect words. You don’t need a fancy formula. You just need to show up and talk to Him.

Even if it’s just, “God, I don’t know what to say, but I need You,” He hears you. Every word. Every tear. Every silence.

This post on talking to God when you’re not okay shows what it looks like to stay honest in your prayer life, even when it’s messy.

3. Lean on Community

You weren’t meant to do this alone. God designed us for connection, and in seasons of struggle, community can be a lifeline. Let your people show up for you. Reach out. Accept help. Be honest.

Whether it’s friends, your church family, or even a small group, having others pray with you and speak truth when you can’t see it clearly makes a difference.

This post about why fellowship matters is a solid reminder that isolation isn’t strength. It’s a setup for burnout.

My son absolutely loves The Action Bible! The dynamic, comic-book illustrations and action-packed storytelling sparked his excitement for the Bible like never before. If you’re looking for a powerful way to engage your child with Scripture, this is it!

4. Remember Past Victories

It’s easy to forget all the ways God has been faithful when you’re staring down something hard. But looking back is part of how we move forward.

Think about what He’s already brought you through. Journal it. Thank Him for it. Let those moments build your confidence that He’s not done working.

5. Speak Life Over Yourself

Your words shape your focus. In hard seasons, it’s tempting to speak from fear or frustration. But speaking God’s truth over your situation will shift your mindset and steady your faith.

Even if you don’t feel it yet, say it out loud. Speak His promises. Remind your soul of what’s true.

6. Worship Through the Pain

Worship isn’t about pretending everything’s okay. It’s about choosing to praise God for who He is, not just what He’s done. When you worship in the middle of pain, it becomes a weapon against fear and discouragement.

Put on worship music. Sing even if you don’t feel like it. Write out what you know is true about God. Worship realigns your heart with heaven.

7. Surrender the Outcome

You can do everything right and still not get the result you hoped for. That’s why faith requires surrender. God’s plan may not look the way you imagined, but it is always good.

Let go of the need to control how it all turns out. Trust that He sees what you don’t. Surrender isn’t giving up. It’s giving it over.

If you’re in that place of tension, this post about surrender and God’s wisdom might be exactly what your soul needs right now.
