Have you ever felt that nudge deep in your soul, the one telling you that you’re meant for something bigger? Maybe you’ve heard God calling you to step into a ministry, start a business, write a book, or simply reach out to someone. And yet, you find yourself holding back, listing every excuse in the book: I’m not good enough. I’m not ready. I can’t do this.
Friend, let’s be real: that’s some Moses energy right there.
Your Calling Is Not Optional
If you know God has placed a calling on your life, it’s your responsibility to act on it. Sitting in indecision or doubt isn’t just inconvenient, it’s disobedience. I know because I’ve been there. For decades, I ran from my calling, even though it was prophesied over me before I was born.
But here’s the truth: God doesn’t call us to convenience; He calls us to obedience.
Look at the people in the Bible who answered God’s call. None of them had it easy. Moses doubted. Gideon hesitated. David faced impossible odds. But their obedience allowed God to work miracles through them.
Delayed Obedience Is Still Disobedience
Let’s talk about excuses for a second. Every time we say, “I’ll do it when I feel ready” or “Maybe later, when life is less busy,” we’re essentially telling God, “You got it wrong.”
Ouch, right?
The truth is, we’ll never feel 100% ready. God doesn’t call us because we’re equipped, He equips us when we answer the call. And often, the fruit of our labor isn’t immediate. Abraham never saw the full fulfillment of God’s promise to him. David didn’t get to build the temple he dreamed of. But their obedience paved the way for generations to come.
God Is a God of Action
God isn’t asking you to have it all figured out. He’s asking you to take the next step.
- The Israelites weren’t freed until Moses acted.
- Ruth didn’t find her Boaz until she stepped into the fields.
- Esther didn’t save her people until she risked everything to approach the king.
Whatever God has called you to do, He’s already gone ahead of you to make a way. But you can’t sit and wait for everything to fall into place. You’ve got to step out in faith and trust Him with the details.
Your Calling Matters
Your calling might not look like anyone else’s and that’s a good thing. Maybe it’s building a business to fund a ministry, writing a book that changes lives, starting a podcast, or simply being a source of encouragement to someone who needs it. Whatever it is, God chose you for a reason.
If you’re unsure of what your calling is, ask God to reveal it to you. He’s not playing hide-and-seek with your purpose. He will make it clear, you just need to be willing to act on it.
If you’re wrestling with your calling or trying to figure out what obedience looks like in this season, you don’t have to do that alone.
