Let’s get real: life is busy, noisy, and sometimes it feels like the days blend into a blur of to-dos and never-enough-time. But when it comes to building a relationship with Jesus, it’s about those small, intentional moments that add up over time. You don’t need hours of quiet time or a perfect morning routine (though hey, if that’s your thing, go for it!). These are ten simple, everyday habits that can help you grow closer to Jesus, no matter what your day looks like.

Start Your Day with a Quick Prayer

Before you reach for your phone or dive into the day’s chaos, pause. Whisper a quick prayer. Thank God for a new day, ask for guidance, or just say, “Good morning, Jesus.” This doesn’t need to be fancy – it’s about making Jesus the first thing on your mind.

Read a Verse, Not a Chapter

We often think connecting with the Word means diving into long passages, but one verse can be just as powerful. Keep a Bible app on your home screen, or leave your Bible open on your kitchen counter. Let that one verse guide your thoughts throughout the day.

Worship While You Work

Whether you’re washing dishes, driving, or folding laundry, turn on some worship music. Let those songs be your background soundtrack. Worship doesn’t need to be confined to Sunday mornings; it can fill every moment of your day.

Journal Your Thoughts

Grab a notebook (or open a notes app) and jot down what’s on your heart. The good, the bad, the ‘I don’t get this, God’ moments. It’s not about perfect prayers, it’s about being honest. Letting it out on paper can help you process and invite Jesus into your everyday struggles.

Pause to Pray Throughout the Day

When you feel overwhelmed, worried, or just need a break, stop for a quick prayer. You don’t have to close your eyes or drop to your knees. A simple “Jesus, help me” or “Thank you, Lord” is enough to reconnect.

Share What You’re Learning

When something hits home, whether it’s a verse, a podcast, or a revelation, share it with someone. Text a friend, post it on your stories, or bring it up in conversation. Sharing keeps you engaged and lets God’s Word move beyond just you.

My son absolutely loves The Action Bible! The dynamic, comic-book illustrations and action-packed storytelling sparked his excitement for the Bible like never before. If you’re looking for a powerful way to engage your child with Scripture, this is it!

End Your Day with Gratitude

Before you crash into bed, take a second to thank God for three things. They can be big or small, answered prayers, a moment of peace, or even just making it through a hard day. Gratitude shifts your focus and closes the day on a positive note.

Scripture Sticky Notes

Write down your favorite verses on sticky notes and put them where you’ll see them: your bathroom mirror, your car dashboard, your desk. Surrounding yourself with God’s Word helps keep Him in the center of your mind.

Take a Walk and Talk to God

Got a few minutes? Head outside. Walk and talk to God as if He’s right beside you. This doesn’t have to be a formal prayer, just chat. Pour out your thoughts, your questions, and your gratitude. Nature has a way of connecting us back to the Creator.

Make Space for Quiet

Turn off the noise. The podcasts, the playlists, the endless scroll, and sit in the quiet, even if just for a moment. It’s in these spaces that we often hear God’s whispers. No agenda, no rush. Just you, breathing in His presence.

Strengthening your relationship with Jesus doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming, it’s about the small, daily habits that keep you connected to Him through the highs, the lows, and all the in-betweens. Whether it’s a quick prayer while making coffee or blasting worship music in the car, these little moments are where your relationship with Jesus truly grows.
