So we all know that Jesus was sinless. But do we really understand why that’s so important? In today’s episode I’m diving deep into what sinlessness is, why we should strive for it and how we can finally break free from the grip of the enemy.
This Changed my Life
I want to share a message that I believe someone really needs to hear. Recently, I found inspiration in John 14, particularly verses 15 to 31, and one verse stood out to me in a powerful way. In John 14:30, Jesus says, “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in me.” As I delved into this passage, the Lord called me out in a way that I didn’t expect.
Jesus was saying goodbye before his crucifixion, and the part that struck me was that last phrase: “he has nothing in me.” It’s a profound truth. We know that Satan has no power over Jesus, and when it comes to spiritual warfare, demons can’t withstand the name of Jesus. How incredible is that?
Satan Isn’t Omniscient
Think about it – Satan has never been omniscient or omnipresent like God. He witnessed Jesus’ birth and lived through the events of the Bible, and I can only imagine how smug he felt while Jesus hung on the cross. In his arrogance, he must have thought he had outsmarted God. But then, Jesus descended to Hades and took back the keys of death and hell. Can you picture Satan’s shock as Jesus rose again? He went from victory to defeat in an instant, and now he has to listen to us talk about how great Jesus is for all eternity. What a picture!
This brings me to the core of what I want to discuss: the phrase “he has nothing in me.” The Greek word for “nothing” is a double negative, emphasizing that Satan had no claim on Jesus because he was sinless. This is something we often gloss over, but it’s essential to understand.
Jesus was Guiltless
Jesus was sinless, which means he carried no guilt. Guilt is what creates a threshold; it’s what separates us from God. Imagine how different your life would be if you had no guilt. How much closer would you be to God? How much more progress would you make?
When we sin, we feel guilt because we know we’re not living in alignment with God’s will. That guilt becomes a foothold for Satan to use against us, feeding into feelings of shame and disconnection. Satan thrives on our guilt, reminding us that we’re failures and that we don’t deserve God’s love.
Satan Carries Guilt
But what if we flip the script? Imagine the guilt that Satan carries. He thought he was better than God, yet he was wrong. His pride led to his downfall, and now he’s condemned to an eternity separated from God. That’s a heavy burden to bear, and it’s why he tries to bring us down with him. He doesn’t want to be alone in his misery.
The key difference between us and Satan is that we have the ability to repent. We can acknowledge our mistakes and accept God’s forgiveness. When Jesus hung on the cross, he did it for all of us. He said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” That wasn’t just for the people present at the crucifixion; it was for you and me.
Let Go of the Guilt
We often think we’re unworthy of that forgiveness, but when we argue with God about our guilt, we’re essentially saying we know better than him. If God believes you’re worth dying for, who are we to argue otherwise?
It’s time to let go of guilt. You don’t have to carry that weight anymore. The moment you give your life to Christ, that guilt is gone. You’re allowed to live a guilt-free life. It might not happen overnight, but it’s a journey worth pursuing.
Let it Go
Think about how much easier life would be without the constant nagging of guilt. How would you show up as a parent, a partner, or a friend if you weren’t weighed down by shame?
I invite you to take a moment to reflect on this: What would life be like if you had no guilt? How would you communicate with God differently? How would your relationships change?
As I continue to process my own guilt and work through my feelings of unworthiness, I’m reminded that God’s grace covers all our shortcomings. His forgiveness is abundant, and it’s a beautiful gift we should never take for granted.
Embrace Freedom
It’s time to let go of guilt and embrace the life God has called you to live. You are loved, you are worthy, and you are free.
Guilt says you’re not enough. Jesus says, “It is finished.”
