Lust is one of those struggles that can feel impossible to pin down. Is it just a bad habit you can’t shake, or is it something deeper? Something darker?

I want you to hear this clearly: lust is more than a brain loop. It’s a war on your calling.

If you’ve ever wondered why it feels so hard to break free, why you feel trapped in shame and secrecy, you’re not imagining it. You’re in a battle. And your enemy doesn’t fight fair.

Today, we’re going to look at what Scripture actually says, why Ephesians 6 matters more than ever, and how you can start fighting back with spiritual strategy and practical tools.

The Real Enemy: It’s Not Just You

Ephesians 6:12 (ESV) says:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

If you’re a woman trying to walk in purity, you have to understand this: lust isn’t only a human problem. The enemy will use any foothold he can to keep you stuck, distracted, and believing you can never change.

You are not fighting your body alone. You are fighting an adversary who wants to isolate you, lie to you, and convince you you’re beyond redemption.

How the Enemy Lies and Isolates

Lust thrives in secrecy. The enemy whispers:

None of that is true.

Satan’s strategy is to cut you off from community, convince you to hide, and keep you in a cycle of shame. Because if you stay hidden, you’ll stay stuck.

Putting On the Armor

Ephesians 6:13 tells us:

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

The armor isn’t a cute metaphor. It is your survival kit. Your defense. Your offense.

The ESV Study Bible is hands down my favorite. It’s packed with context, maps, commentary, and notes that help make Scripture clearer without watering it down.

This is the exact one I use!
It’s deep, solid, and totally worth it.

How to Fight Lust: Spiritual Warfare and Habits

Yes, lust is a spiritual battle. But it’s also fueled by practical patterns. The enemy leverages brain loops, routines, and triggers to keep you in bondage.

Here are a few strategies to fight on both fronts:

Freedom From Porn and Lust Is Possible

Lust doesn’t get the final word. Your past doesn’t get the final word.

God does.

And he has already declared you forgiven, redeemed, and free.

You are not fighting alone – you have authority and weapons to wield. And you have a Savior who never stops fighting for you.
