When life gets heavy, it’s easy to start wondering if God really loves you. Not in the abstract, “Jesus loves me this I know” kind of way, but in the middle of your actual pain, your actual doubts, your actual mess.

The truth is, His love isn’t dependent on how well you’re holding it all together. These verses are here to remind you: God’s love is steady, present, and unchanging. Even when you’re not sure how to feel it.

1. Romans 8:38–39

“For I am sure that neither death nor life… will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Nothing can cancel out His love. Not fear, not failure, not your worst day. If you’ve felt far from God, start here.

2. Psalm 136:26

“Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.”

His love doesn’t run out when life gets chaotic. It’s constant. It holds through every storm.

3. Lamentations 3:22–23

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases… they are new every morning.”

You don’t have to carry yesterday’s mess into today. God’s mercy meets you fresh every single morning. Let it.

The ESV Study Bible is hands down my favorite. It’s packed with context, maps, commentary, and notes that help make Scripture clearer without watering it down.

This is the exact one I use!
It’s deep, solid, and totally worth it.

4. John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son…”

The gospel isn’t just a story, it’s proof of a love that sacrifices. God gave everything so you could belong to Him.

5. Zephaniah 3:17

“The Lord your God is in your midst… he will quiet you by his love.”

God isn’t far off and frustrated. He’s with you, rejoicing over you, calming your fear, not because you earned it, but because He delights in you.

6. 1 John 4:9–10

“Not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son…”

God made the first move. He loved you first. He’s not waiting on you to be “good enough.” He already said yes.

7. Ephesians 3:17–19

“That you… may have strength to comprehend… the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.”

You don’t have to fully understand it to fully receive it. His love goes deeper than your doubts and wider than your weakness.

8. Isaiah 54:10

“For the mountains may depart… but my steadfast love shall not depart from you.”

When everything else feels like it’s shifting beneath your feet, His love stays. It does not move.

9. 1 John 4:16

“God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God…”

You’re not meant to just know about God’s love – you’re meant to live in it. Dwell in it. Let it hold you up.

10. 2 Corinthians 5:14

“For the love of Christ controls us…”

This love is not passive. It moves us. It shapes the way we live, think, respond, and recover.
