Anxiety can feel overwhelming, making it hard to focus, rest, or even pray. But God’s Word reminds us that we don’t have to carry these burdens alone. Scripture gives us hope, peace, and encouragement for the moments when fear tries to take over.

Here are six Bible verses to turn to whenever anxiety starts to creep in.

1. Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This verse reminds us to trade anxiety for prayer. God promises a peace that goes beyond human understanding, even in the most stressful moments.

2. 1 Peter 5:7

“Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

God doesn’t just tolerate our fears, He wants them. When you feel overwhelmed, remember that you can hand your worries over to Him, knowing He cares deeply about you.

3. Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Jesus offers rest to the weary. When life feels too heavy to carry, He invites us to exchange our burdens for His peace and guidance.

4. Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Anxiety often comes with a sense of isolation, but this verse reminds us that we are never alone. God is with us, offering strength and support.

5. John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

The peace that Jesus gives isn’t temporary or dependent on circumstances. His peace is constant and unshakable, even in times of uncertainty.

6. Psalm 34:4

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”

God is faithful to hear and answer when we seek Him. His deliverance may not always look like we expect, but He promises to be with us through it all.

These verses are powerful reminders that God is with us, even in our most anxious moments. Take time to pray through these scriptures and allow His peace to replace your worries.
